'The Five by Seven Project' is a multidimensional work existing both on the internet as a pictorial blog as well as in a tangible form that is the physical works themselves. Each week over the course of a year, a new 5"x7" image will be created and posted. Select original pieces will be shown around the city while the digitized versions will be disseminated across the internet. Topics for the illustrative paintings will remain in keeping with the diary genre of bloging wherein the author chronicles and exposes the daily happenings events of their lives.
The 5" by 7" dimension was chosen as it holds a duel function in the project; it acts as a reference to the 'snapshot' of the same dimensions which preserves and monumentalizes the quotidian moments in life, as well as acting as a cohesive bind to the project which otherwise, should theoretically vary in content, style, and execution over the course of it's running period.
The Premise is that by adhering to the one-a-week schedule, neither running ahead, nor falling behind, a more honest encapsulation of life will be created. Be it the birth of a first born child or buying a new tooth brush, both trivial as and monumental life events would be given equal weight. Each piece will be a small snapshot of what the artist was doing / thinking/ feeling / working on, as well as what's going on in the world around him, at solely that particular moment in time.
